Reunion and Hiking to Celebrate the Double Ninth Festival

For the Chongyang Festival, Beijing International Chinese College invited its students, teachers and foreigner friends from the community of Beijing to visit the Remnant Great Wall.

On our way there, we stopped at Changping District, and visited a traditional “Cloisonne” factory. Cloisonne is a famous traditional enamel ware technique born in Beijing, and has a history of over 500 years. At the factory, teachers and students were amazed by this delicate handicraft and all the work and patient that imply the creation of these singular pieces. After carefully listening to the explanation about the history and production process, all the participants had the chance to experience how to use the cloisonne technique. Finally, the staff selected three of the best works and gave them a few souvenirs as a gift for their magnificent work.

After a great buffet lunch, we finally arrived to the Remnant Great Wall. This side of the Great Wall is called like this because guards original and unrepair parts of the Great Wall. The view from the top was breath-taking and we all tried to climb as high as we could to fulfill the Chongyang Festival tradition and increase the longevity of our lives. We all take many pictures as souvenirs of this great day!
