The Training Program for Overseas Chinese Teachers is specifically set up by Hanban for the enhancement of communication and cooperation in the area of Chinese language teaching at home and abroad.
For those Non-Chinese Foreign teachers under 60 years old (including), who have one year teaching experience in Confucius institutes or local schools, Chinese level arrived HSK 3 or equivalent to HSK 3 can apply for this program.
Hanban will pay the cost during the participants’ stay in China, and the participant should pay for air tickets, visa application fees and so on.
The courses in the program, based on the needs of Chinese language teachers at various levels in different countries, focus mainly on a series of Chinese language knowledge and education courses, theory and methodology of teaching Chinese, application of modern educational technology in Chinese language teaching, cultural practices, and exchange and seminars between Chinese language teachers in China and other countries.
Beijing International Chinese College is the organizer of this program and has held it nineteen times. We have trained more than 500 participants from Canada, U.S.A., Malaysia, Spain, Russia, South Korea, Nepal, etc. In 2017, we plan to hold “The Training Program for Overseas Chinese Teachers” program thrice and train 300 participants. During the four-week training course, we will help participants understand the present situation of international Chinese teaching, become familiar with the standard of international Chinese teachers, and improve their ability and level of teaching Chinese as a second language.
The three-week training course includes 92 class hours. The professional lesson includes 60 class hours which are 65% of all; the cultural lesson includes 12 class hours which are 13% of all; the practical lesson includes 20 class hours which are 22% of all.
The four-week training course includes 132 class hours. The professional lesson includes 72 class hours which are 52% of all; the cultural lesson includes 28 class hours which are 18% of all; the practical lesson includes 40 class hours which are 30% of all.
In addition, we will use Chinese textbooks《Learn Chinese with me》and other teaching materials as well as reference to help students improve their Chinese level.
All the teachers of this training course are the full time teachers and guest professors of Beijing International Chinese College, while all the guest professors are from Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Normal University and other professors in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
There is a test after the training course, which including class attending(20%) teaching presentation(60%) and class performance(20%) If you pass the test, you will get a certificate given by Hanban. If you skip the class more than three times with no reasons, you are not allowed to get the certificate.

1. Fill in the application form;
2. Get signature or seal of recommendation institute (recommendation institute includes Confucius Institutes/ Confucius classrooms and Education Department of Chinese Embassy);
3. Send the application form to bicc_training@163.com;
4. Hanban will check the application form. If the check passed, we will inform you and send you Confirmation letter.
